  • Kobayashi Eitaku (1843–1890) was a Japanese Ukiyo-e artist and illustrator known for his dynamic storytelling and fine detail. Trained in the Kanō school of painting, he later embraced woodblock printing, creating intricate book illustrations and historical prints. His work often depicted dramatic warriors, mythological scenes, and ghostly apparitions, blending classical techniques with a more expressive, modern style. Eitaku played a key role in the Meiji-era transformation of Japanese art, bridging traditional aesthetics with new printing innovations.
